Background to Careers Advice

The message from industry is loud and clear - employers need an improved talent pool of newly-educated and trained engineers at all skills levels from technician and apprentice to graduate and postgraduate to meet the future skills needs that will drive the UK economy.

It is vital that young people are accurately and knowledgeably informed about the demands, rewards and importance of the wide variety of careers that are offered by the diverse subject of engineering.

As careers teachers and advisors you are at the sharp end of providing appropriate information, advice and guidance to young people about their future careers. And that's why Engineers Make It Happen is developing a number of initiatives to support you.

Engineers Make It Happen is being conducted in full knowledge of the DCSF STEM Programme in England. Engineers Make It Happen is focus its careers activity on Wales and Northern Ireland, where the ETB is working closely with the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA), Careers Wales and the Institute of Careers Guidance to deliver two resources of benefit to secondary school and college careers teachers and careers advisors.
