Hear from an Engineer
OK, so you’re on the course, but what do people who’ve studied engineering actually do? Do you want to know what opportunities are available to you when you’ve completed your training? Do you just want to hear if engineering is any good? Is it exciting, well paid or just geeky?
We’ve gone out and found some people who have something in common – they are all really pleased to have taken up engineering and found out what a fantastic career it is! People young and old, male or female, working anywhere from London to Angola.
We have Visiting Lecturers (as we're calling them) from all sorts of engineering backgrounds - from electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering to snowboard design, supersonic car aerodynamics and space robotics. And we’re paying them to come and speak to you.
If you are based in London, Wales or Northern Ireland, all you need to do is pick the Visiting Lecturer that would be of most interest to your class then ask your tutor or a lecturer to book them through this website. You can see who can visit you by clicking on your region or the 'any region' links on the left.
In case you need any persuading - here are some comments we've had about the Visiting Lecturers so far...
“A great presentation. It has changed they way I thought about engineering and I now want to find out much more about it” – National Diploma in Engineering student, Northern Regional College, Northern Ireland
“The speaker was really enthusiastic and I found it a really interesting presentation” – Foundation Degree in Software Engineering student, Belfast Metropolitan College, Northern Ireland
“It was interesting to learn how successful someone can be in engineering” – HNC Mechanical Engineering student, Coleg Sir Gar, Wales
“A good lecture and it has definitely made me more eager to progress into an engineering career”, PEO level 2 Fabrication and Welding student, Coleg Sir Gar, South Wales
Well - what are you waiting for?
